You Drove Me to Drinkin', (Now Who's Gonna Drive Me Home?)
Live at Poe's Pub with J. B. Beverley, and the Lonely Teardrops

I'm tired of thinkin'. I'm tired of blinkin'
the tears away from my eyes.
I don't want to know where you go
every night you tell me good-bye.

Something ain't right.
Even though we don't fight
there's words hangin' in the air
that we breathe between us.
I don't make a scene 'cause
when I want to, you're just not there.

You drive me away and you leave me alone.
You'll never say where you're goin'.
I'm so tired of thinkin'.
You drove me to drinkin'.
Now who's gonna drive me home?

I just can't stay
here while you're away.
The room echoes you so
I go out to borrow a better tomorrow
every today I have to let you go.

You drive me away and you leave me alone, etc

We Agree

from the Self Portraits in an Outlaw Amish Barn series

Two of us in a place just big enough for one.
It's been a long time since I've had fun.
Go away it's over. Go away it's done.
It's been a long time since I've had fun.

We don't agree but we agree
I can't stand you and you can't stand me.
No, we don't agree, but we agree
I can't stand you and you can't stand me.

You say you feel bad about it, well I kinda doubt it.
Keep talkin to yourself you don't listen to me.
You're drivin me crazy. Quit callin me baby.
It ain't my fault you don't want to see.

That we don't agree, etc.

You won't let me talk. Why don't you take a walk?
Keep on walkin', don't run back to me.
I'm gettin distracted and you're over reactin'.
It ain't my fault you don't want to see.

That we don't agree, etc.

Wandering William

video by Wayne Titsworth and Cathy Pippen

Uncle William wandered all over the place
till he fell in love. Then he stayed.
A baby on the way, he tried to settle down.

Maybe he didn't know what he wanted,
didn't know by what but knew he was haunted.
Maybe it had t od owith reasons he'd first gone.
Or maybe a wanderin' man just keeps movin' on.

It might have been another life.
It might have been the farm, the baby, the wife.
It might have killed him.
But he needed to be free, oh wandering William.

He stayed on until the baby was born,
I guess he didn't want to leave his wife alone.
He only left on Saturday's to go to the general store.
One day Uncle William walked right out the door.
He never again walked back in anymore.

It might have been another life.
It might have been the farm, the baby, the wife.
It might have killed him.
But he needed to be free, oh wandering William.

Great-Granddaddy came by later on,
he saw the buggy and the mule, saw Uncle William was gone.
He saw the mule needed feeding, so he walked to the tobacco barn.

He found Uncle William left his baby and wife.
What was left of him slumped over a furnace pipe.
A gun in his hand, William wandered on.
I guess a wandrin' man just keeps movin' on.

Bucket of Woes

I just dropped back in to tell you,
lately you've been on my mind.
Been wonderin' what you might be goin' through
and no, I didn't think you'd mind,
but I didn't know what I'd find.
I'm sorry I left you behind.

Now you're fallin', should I catch you?
Now you're smilin', should I cry?
We know I always see right through you.
There's no way left for you to lie.
So I laugh and cry.
I'm sorry I said goodbye.

But will you won't you, will you won't you?
Will you won't you, won't you dance with me?
No, something in you died and I think,
I think it's cause you see
that even I couldn't save you.
And no, I never forgave you.

Guess I finally got all the answers.
Weren't the ones I wanted to know.
Dancin hurts the feet of dancers.
It's hard stayin on your toes.
I'm sorry that's how it goes.
I stuck it in my bucket of woes.

But once you dont you, once you won't you?
Once you chanced it all you danced with me.
Now something in you died, and I think,
I think it's 'cause you see
that even I couldn't save you.
And no, I never forgave you.

I just dropped back in to see you.
Thought you might like seein me.
Thought by now somethin would have freed you.
I remember when we all thought it was me.
Why are you still not free?
Sorry I had to see.

Self Portrait in an Outlaw Amish Barn
A Hundred Years

It's all gone wrong. I been up so long
I can't count the dawns.
You're fast asleep. I can hardly keep
from takin' you in my arms.

I have to go. We both know
it's all gone too far.
I'm runnin away. I wish I could stay.
Wish I could stay for a hundred years.

If I knew I had a hundred years
to do what I wanted to,
I would spend a hundred years
wakin' up with you.
Things don't always work out the way
I would like them to.
I'm runnin' away and I wish I could stay.

There's so much to stay it would take a day.
I don't have that anymore.
No matter how I tried, I know your eyes
wouldn't look at me like before.
When we first kissed I felt like I missed you,
like I never missed anyone more.
Felt like it had been a hundred years.

So this is goodbye. I can't say I won't cry
but I guess I'll be ok.
I won't forget it and I won't regret it
I'm not that way.
It's gonna take more than a lifetime to stop
wishin' you had stayed.
It would take more than a hundred years.

Chorus

Self Portrait in an Outlaw Amish Barn

Quit Talkin'

Baby you know I love the things you say;
tellin' me you love me every day.
But tellin' me them things you do
makes me wanna do them things to you.
For now quit talkin' and just get walkin my way.

Baby you know I could gaze into your eyes
till the day I fall down and die.
But every time I look at you
there's so much more I want to do.
Never mind the gazin lets fall down, you know why.

I love you and you love me.
That's the way it's supposed to be.
That's somethin that's nice to know.
It's even nicer to let it show.

Baby you know I love the things you say, etc.

Hotter Than Your Girlfriend

Why don't you go away quit talkin' to me.
Quit tellin' me what kind of friends you want to be;
'cause I know, oh yea it shows.
I'm hotter than your girlfriend.

Don't go tellin' me you're not that kind of guy.
If looks could kill, she's shot me I'll die.
You can't deny. Don't even try.
I'm hotter than your girlfriend.

Don't feel bad you're not the only one.
I have to say the same thing to every one I've said to you;
'cause it's true. It's nothing new.
I'm hotter than your girlfriend.

The one sittin' right over there,
lookin' at me with a razor stare. Yea I think she means it,
'cause it's no secret,
that I'm hotter than your girlfriend.

I'm hotter than everybody's girlfriend.
I bet I just pissed off your girlfriend.
